Perception of Disinformation, (Un) reliable Sources and Media Competencies: An Insight into Citizens’ Media Literacy
Published Monday 21 September 2026 at 11:24
This document presents an insight into citizens’ perceptions of disinformation and their criteria for assessing the reliability of different information sources. It was produced within the framework of ADMO 2.0.
The aim of this work was to gain an understanding of how citizens recognise disinformation, how they respond to it, and according to what criteria they distinguish reliable from unreliable information sources. Particular emphasis was placed on understanding existing levels of citizens’ media literacy and the strategies they use when assessing the credibility of information in the digital media environment.
The report was produced by our project partner, Gong.
